ABOUT FLOWER AND SPICE
Flower and Spice is a premium skincare brand which focuses on creating impressive natural products containing enchanting flower essences and therapeutic essential oils of spices, plants and flowers. Spices that they use in their formulations mostly come from seeds and roots which are many times more powerful than the leaves of the plant.
The founder of the brand, Karmen Novak, studied organic skincare science at Formula Botanica which is the leading accredited Organic Cosmetic Science School. During her studies, she started experimenting with various oils on her skin until she discovered the winning blend which drastically improved her skin, leaving it deeply hydrated and smooth. This is how Midnight Beauty serum was born and it was this product that inspired Karmen to launch Flower and Spice.
Flower and Spice is a young brand, having been established only last year but it has already managed to impress the media and the green beauty community. The brand has been featured and praised in some of the top magazines, for example, in Vogue, Bazaar and Women’s Health. Most recently, the Midnight Beauty serum was nominated for the best green beauty product of 2019 at the Dutch Beauty Awards.
All the products from Flower and Spice are formulated in the Netherlands and made in Switzerland following very high standards. They are all dermatologically tested and never tested on animals (the brand has a certificate of compatibility with human skin).
Midnight Beauty Serum Review
The Midnight Beauty serum deeply nourishes the skin and improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It really does work. As soon as I apply it onto my skin, the ingredients start to work their magic. Fine lines begin to soften and once the serum is fully absorbed my skin feels lovely and smooth.
This serum is designed to work overnight and when you wake up in the morning your skin will feel wonderful, smooth and soft.
The serum does not only moisturise the skin deeply but it also helps to rejuvenate it. When using it regularly, you will prevent accelerated skin ageing and your skin elasticity will be improved. What’s more, your skin tone will become more even.
I found Midnight Beauty great on my combination skin prone to breakouts. When I had some spots on my face it actually helped them heal faster. But this serum is not only great for breakout-prone skin, it’s also great for dry skin and other types. I think it’s especially beneficial for those who are more than 30 years of age as it really helps with fine lines.
INGREDIENTS
The Midnight Beauty Serum contains some wonderful oils which hydrate the skin and refine the skin texture. The blend is full of anti-oxidants and contains potent and precious oils not commonly found in the typical facial oil blend. This is a highly concentrated product with nature’s most effective plant oils, that’s why this product is so special.
Here is a breakdown of some of its ingredients:
- Prickly Pear oil – exceptionally hydrating and rich in vitamin E which stimulates cell renewal and brightens the complexion. It reduces and prevents wrinkles.
- Evening Primrose oil – soothing, moisturising, anti-inflammatory, helps the skin to repair itself.
- Jojoba Oil – moisturises the skin and regulates sebum production. Anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory.
- Argan Oil – loaded with omega-6 fatty acids, linoleic acid, and vitamins A and E. It helps boost cell production and has anti-inflammatory properties.
- Sacha Inchi oil – impressive omega-3 content, highly anti-inflammatory, hydrating and anti-ageing.
- Apricot Seed Oil – moisturising & balancing
- Plum Seed Oil – moisturising, rich in fatty acids and antioxidants such as vitamins A, C and E. It has anti-inflammatory properties, helping to protect the skin from free radicals and promote the production of collagen.
- Macadamia Oil – moisturising, regenerating and softening.
- Coriander Seed Oil – soothes inflammation and prevents irritation, resulting in soothed and calm skin.

SCENT
The sent is absolutely gorgeous. Nothing like anything that I’ve come across before. It’s a really sweet scent and pretty strong, almost overpowering but really pleasant. Some people may find it too strong but I got used to it and I love it.
The scent doesn’t linger on the skin for too long and it slowly dissipates.
TEXTURE
This serum is not very thick, it’s quite runny actually but this just makes it easier to apply. The texture is not heavy at all and not greasy once absorbed.
HOW TO USE
It’s recommended to use 2-3 pumps of serum on slightly damp face and neck so that the serum is easier to absorb into the skin. I found 2-3 pumps quite a lot but I thought to follow these recommendations to start with. I would apply this in the evening, after the shower. What I’ve noticed is when you apply that much serum, it will take a bit of time to absorb but as soon as you apply it, it will start to sink into the skin quite quickly. Your skin won’t feel greasy afterwards. Make sure your skin is a little bit damp before applying so that the serum absorbs quicker.
The serum is intended to be used overnight but you can also use it in the morning if you wish and I think one pump should be more than enough, especially if you want it to absorb quickly and want to apply makeup on top.
THE FINAL VERDICT
Midnight Beauty Serum is an exceptional oil blend which I have no doubt helps my skin look better, minimising any fine lines and preventing any further ageing. I totally love the scent although it may be overpowering for some.
This luxury doesn’t come cheap though and it will cost you €105 when you buy it directly from Flower and Spice website. However, if you are a first time customer you can use a code FIRST10 to get 10% off your first order.
