Hilary Duff deserves to have a monument in everyone’s home, because she is a national freaking treasure (this is just a fact, OK?). And now, your childhood hero has infiltrated your inspo board, because she just dyed her hair icy platinum blonde—AKA the very shade you wished you had when you were a pre-teen in 2004.

In a photo posted to her Instagram yesterday, Hilary showed off her new bright, megawatt-blonde shade with the caption, “Twas a long long day but the mission was accomplished.” And, as anyone who has ever tried to bleach their hair knows, the process can take a g’damn day, especially if you’re not looking to damage the hell out of it by the end.
The new shade was created by hairstylists Nikki Lee and Riawna Capri of Nine Zero One Salon in West Hollywood, who took Hilary’s usual dark bronde hair to its brighter hue. The actress captured the process on her Insta stories, captioning one of her selfies with, “This feels like hot flames on my head. Whoever bleaches their hair all the time knows what I’m talking about. This is horrible. The hot flames are out of this world!”
Welp, “beauty” is pain, huh? By the end of the day, Hilary was left with the same bright, peroxide-blonde shade that virtually every celebrity in the early aughts wore (may the ‘00s RIP), giving me all of the nostalgic feels. Though, of course, Hilary’s hair was definitively brighter, glossier, and not-at-all yellow-looking like the bleaches of yesteryear.
