It’s hard to go past Karishma Kumar Brien (nee Kumar) and Jayden Brien’s wedding when it comes to all things fun related. The pair, who has been dating since their Nowra High School days in 2008, tied the knot on Saturday, April 13. Their big day included a jumping castle, a Krispy Creme cake, and the bride’s brother standing proudly by her side as her ‘bridesperson’. Around 120 guests gathered to celebrate their wedding at Cambewarra Winery. Bridesmaids were Elizabeth Philpott and Hannah Pavin, and Karishma’s brother Sanjesh Kumar. Best man was Mitchell Hodgson, while Julijan Pavin and Adam Tolmie were groomsmen. When it came to the song she would walk down the aisle to, there was no hesitation for Karishma. “I just love Beyonce,” she said. “We had the acoustic version of XO and it was so beautiful.” With the ceremony completed, guests were soon treated to a surprise. “I always wanted to have a jumping castle at my wedding – I think Jayden thought I was joking when I first told him,” Karishma said. “I think all our guests thought it was for the kids at first, until I pushed them out of the way and got on there.” Karishma honoured her family heritage by wearing tradition Indian clothes for her reception. The couple enjoyed their first dance to Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol, before Karishma and her dad delighted their wedding guests with an impressive father/daughter dance to a five song montage. Karishma thanked all their family and friends for making it such a special day. “It went so quickly but it was just so much fun and so good to be able to share it with everyone,” she said. The couple enjoyed a 10 day honeymoon in Thailand, before returning to their home in Nowra. Karishma said she’s now looking forward to suiting up as her brother’s ‘groomsperson’ at his wedding in November. All photographs courtesy of Samuel White Photo.
