A school student is among 10 locally acquired cases of Covid-19 recorded in New South Wales overnight.
NSW Health announced five new cases in tests completed up to 8pm on Monday night, however two of them were announced yesterday.
There were also seven new locally acquired cases recorded after the 8pm deadline, meaning there are 10 new local cases.
Those seven cases recorded after 8pm on Monday will be included in Wednesday’s numbers.
Six of (the later-recorded cases) are household contacts of previous cases who have been in isolation however one case not linked to the Bondi cluster is a student from St Charles Catholic Primary School at Waverley.
“The one exception (to the seven later-recorded cases) is the primary school student at St Charles and the school is in the process of notifying parents,” Premier Gladys Berejiklian said.
“But I urge parents to wait for instructions from the school because we are keen to make sure that students and parents have access to testing and we want to make sure there isn’t a rush with all parents descending on the school at the same time.
“We want to make sure that that is managed in a good way and we thank the school already for starting the communication.”
Of the five cases reported to 8pm on Tuesday night, one is a woman in her 60s from the Illawarra who is a close contact of a previously reported case and has been in isolation, while the second is a woman in her 40s from Sydney’s northern suburb who is a close contact of a previously reported case and has been in isolation.
The third case is a woman in her 20s from the eastern suburbs who is linked to the Bondi cluster. Further investigations are underway.
Of the two reported yesterday, one is a woman in her 50s from Sydney’s northern suburbs, who is a close contact of a previously reported case and she has been in isolation.
The second case is a man in his 30s from Sydney’s eastern suburbs. He is also a close contact of a previously reported case and has been in isolation.
There are now 21 cases linked to the Bondi cluster, according to NSW Health.
“NSW Health is asking anyone who was in Westfield Bondi Junction (including the car park) on at any time between 12 June and 18 June to get tested for COVID-19,” a statement read.
“Only people with symptoms and those who have been to specific exposure venues at the listed times need to test and isolate.”
