The new Kittyhawk Satellite Pharmacy officially opened for business Nov. 13 in the Kittyhawk Area of Area A across from the gas station, replacing its former location adjacent to the commissary.

The $ 10 million facility includes upgrades like a modernized drive-thru lane, state-of-the-art dispensing equipment to enhance safety and double the lobby and processing space. These new features are designed to increase the efficiency of the pharmacy.

The Kittyhawk pharmacy fills more than 1,800 prescriptions daily, which is six times as many as a typical civilian pharmacy. This expansion should allow the pharmacy to increase its productivity to better serve the 5,500 military personnel and 59,000 retirees within 100 miles of the installation.

The new pharmacy is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

The official ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held Dec. 12 inside of the new facility.
