Having healthy snacks ideas, like vegan dips, to have between meals is such a great way to nourish yourself.
Not only are you giving yourself the nourishment your body needs to feel full between meals, but you’re also getting another serving or two of macronutrients and vegetables that your body needs throughout the day.
At Nutrition Stripped, our philosophy is practicing mindful eating and eating an abundance of plants and whole foods. This can look different for everyone and doesn’t have to mean you label yourself as vegetarian, pescatarian, or vegan unless you’d like to. The important part is that we’re all working towards being mindful of where our food comes from and consuming more of these nutrient-dense foods.
So keep these vegan dips in mind whenever you’re planning your weekly meals or need a healthy snack idea!
What to Look for in a Healthy Vegan Dip Recipe
Dips are a great staple to have on your list of healthy snack ideas for the week. You can batch prepare them ahead of time and store all week and know that you always have something nutritious to reach for when you need something to hold you over before your next meal.
What we want our snacks to do for us is to help keep us full and also sneak in some extra vegetables so that we’re eating plenty throughout the day.
So when you’re thinking about healthy snacks or dip options, you want to ensure it includes five elements that I call the Foundational Five: protein, non-starchy carbohydrates, starchy carbohydrates, healthy fat, and a flavor factor (something that makes it taste great!)
If you’re not familiar with my Foundational Five system yet, you can download my free guide where I share more about it!
All of the vegan dip recipes below include these important elements so that you’ll feel satiated and energized.
While there is absolutely nothing wrong or bad about traditional dips, they may cause you to feel less than your best, either by throwing off your digestion with the amount of dairy (which many people have trouble digesting) or because they don’t contain the right balance of macronutrients to help keep you full and energized.
So if you’re wanting to consume dips more regularly throughout the week as a healthy snack option or if you notice that you don’t feel your best even when you only have traditional dips once in a while, these vegan dip recipes are a great nutrient-dense and delicious alternative to traditional dips.
Creamy Vegan Spinach Artichoke Dip
Spinach Artichoke Dip is a classic and always a crowd-pleaser. Cauliflower and cashews make this creamy spinach and artichoke dip so creamy, easy to make, easy to store and reheat, and a great way to sneak in a little more vegetables into the diets of your friends and family.
Vegan Baba Ganoush
If you’re not familiar with Baba Ganoush, it’s both simple to make and versatile to add to any dish for added flavor and a creamy texture. What’s great about this vegan dip recipe is that many vegan dips use cashew as the base to get that creamy texture. But if you’re allergic to nuts or simply want to include more vegetables in your day, this is a great option.
Baba Ganoush is made from eggplant, and roasting the eggplant at a high temperature creates a wonderfully subtle smokey flavor, and mint and tahini add a perfect nutty freshness to the dish.
Creamy Sweet Onion Vegan Dip
This simple recipe delivers the perfect, irresistible tang that you’d expect in a great onion dip. Caramelized onions pair with protein-rich nutritional yeast and soaked raw cashews, a splash of lemon juice, garlic, olive oil, a dash of black pepper and an onion salt mix. The result is flavor-packed and delicious — all while being vegan.
Cashew Kimchi Dip
Cashew Kimchi Dip is a healthy vegan dip made with just a few pantry-staple ingredients! Kimchi is a fermented food, which supports our gut health. Fermented foods are great for our overall digestive health and they’re foods that aren’t typically found in our diet unless we seek them out or eat foods traditionally rich in fermented foods — the standard American diet isn’t one of them.
Smokey Cashew Queso Vegan Dip
Spice up your next friendly gathering, or solo snack session with this delightfully-dippable Smokey Cashew Queso Vegan Dip! This queso dip is a great meal prep option for you week and can be enjoyed in so many ways, from using it as a dip or using it on a burrito bowl or taco topping!
Minty Spring Pea Dip
If you’re looking for a quick, simple, delicious, and light dip to make on the weekends, this is a great one to add to your rotation. This recipe is a great option to have in mind because all you need is a bag of frozen peas and most everything else you’ll already find in your pantry (and if you don’t have it on hand, you can skip it)!
This quickly became a favorite of the Nutrition Stripped community for it’s ease and simplicity. It tastes great as a dip and it also works well as a dollop in a Foundational Five Nourish Bowl.
Classic Cashew Cheese (And 3 Variations)
Cashew Cheese is one of the Nutrition Stripped Community’s all-time favorite recipe! You can make a classic version and you can also have fun by trying one of the three variations I recommend, including truffle, olive, and sun-dried tomato!
