Best Natural Shampoo for Oily Hair: Essentially Nature Rebalance Shampoo (Review)

By | January 27, 2019

Quite a while back I tested a natural conditioner from Essentially Nature and recently I decided to try more products from this brand so one month I picked their Rebalance Shampoo from LoveLula as part of LoveLula Blogger Accredited program*.

Essentially Nature Rebalance Shampoo is suitable for oily hair which is something I struggle with and after spending some time testing it, I can now easily say that it’s one of the best shampoos for oily hair ever! I totally love it. It really helps my fine hair stay fresher for longer and since I’ve been using it I don’t wash my hair so often. So if you also struggle with greasy hair, this natural shampoo is so worth trying.

Essentially Nature Rebalance Shampoo – Review

As mentioned at the beginning of this post, I totally loved Essentially Nature Rebalance Shampoo (£10 for 200ml). The scent is really pleasant, citrusy and the shampoo foams well. After the wash, my hair looks lovely and feels really clean although sometimes it feels like there is a bit of residue left on top of my hair but that doesn’t really give me any issues. My hair still stays fresher for longer.

The shampoo doesn’t make my hair more difficult to manage, not at all (some natural shampoos do) but I still use my favourite conditioner with it for easier combing at the end.

The Rebalance Shampoo comes in a plastic (HDPE) bottle which can be recycled. At the moment the brand doesn’t offer glass bottles.

Ingredients

In terms of ingredients, here are the ones I want to highlight:

  • Cypress Essential Oil – great for oily hair, it prevents hair from falling out.
  • Lemon Oil – makes hair strong and shiny, also helps to eliminate dandruff.
  • Pink Grapefruit Oil – it has great cleansing and toning properties, helps to eliminate oily scalp.
  • Organic Aloe Vera – reduces inflammation, helps with itching and dryness.
  • Nettle Root Herbal Extract – prevents hair loss and dandruff.

Citrus essential oils are, of course, responsible for that lovely scent this shampoo has. For a full list of ingredients click here.

One ingredient which may bother some people is a preservative Phenoxyethanol. I don’t mind it in haircare products but I avoid it in skincare products. Some people with sensitive skin have reactions to it and they need to avoid it. I am personally fine with it but prefer other more natural preservatives in skincare products.

The final verdict

All in all, Essentially Nature Rebalance Shampoo is a great natural shampoo and I am happy to recommend it to anyone who struggles with oily hair. Due to the ingredients it contains, the shampoo may also help with itching, dryness and dandruff although I cannot say for sure it really helps with these issues as I haven’t used it for this purpose (my scalp hasn’t been itchy or too dry lately). The best is to try it and see whether it would work for you.

If you react to Phenoxyethanol you should probably avoid it but apart from that, this is a perfect natural shampoo for oily hair. Get it on LoveLula here > (worldwide delivery available).
