New treatment for children with a severe peanut allergy

SAN DIEGO- A peanut allergy is one of the most common causes of severe allergy attacks. Symptoms can be life-threatening and for some people, even tiny amounts of peanuts can cause a serious reaction.

Peanut allergy has been increasing in children but a new treatment could hold promise for children who otherwise suffer severe reactions. It’s an experimental drug.

KUSI’s Sandra Maas talks to Dr. Stephanie Leonard, the director of the food allergy center at Rady’s Children’s Hospital, to learn more.
